The 2023-2024 course will start on Friday 6 October 2023 (8.30-10.30 am).

Contents:

• Unit 1. What’s Communication? Large and Narrow Perspectives. Types of communication. The cognitive process.
• Unit 2. How to write a communication plan.
• Unit 3. Verbal Communication. Speech acts and texts. Writing processes.
• Unit 4. Writing for press.
• Unit 5. Spoken language and public speaking techniques. Effective presentations.
• Lezione 6. Nonverbal communication: an overview
• Unit 7. Digital writing: websites, emails and blogs.
• Unit 8. Social media. Strategies and marketing.
• Unit 9. Social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok: content strategies; do’s and dont’s
• Unit 10. Information disorder and its possible solutions.
• Unit 11. AI: Pros and cons; tools.
• Unit 12. Branding; an overview.

During the course Students will be required to prepare papers, PowerPoint presentations and short texts for social media, which will be discussed during the final oral exam.

Handouts and PowerPoint presentations will be uploaded on DIR website regularly.
